Vietnames Authorities Torture Degar Christians With Attack Dogs. Police Captain Identified as Pham Nhat Toan.
…they dragged him toward a cage holding an attack dog…

On January 4, 2011, security police from Hanoi summoned two of our Christian Brothers named Ksor Cop (age 19) and Nay Sia (age 19) from Bon Toat village, Ia Siem commune, Krong Pa District, Gia Lai Province, Vietnam to report to the police station in Krong Pa district.

The two Christians reported to the police station at around 8:30 AM on January 5, 2011. When they arrived nine Vietnamese police officers surrounded them and pushed them into an interrogation room. Their leader, Capt. Pham Nhat Toan asked them: “why is that you do not stop believing in God?” The Christians answered “Our God is real, he had died for our sins and now he is living and we cannot stop worshiping Him.”

Capt. Pham Nhat Toan then grabbed Ksor Cop and with help from the other police they dragged him toward a cage holding an attack dog. The security police let the dog bite Ksor Cop’s right leg three times and his left leg twice. Both of Ksor Cop’s legs were bleeding. Then they did the same to Nay Sia and the dog bit his right leg three times and left leg also twice. The security police then released Ksor Cop and Nay Sia but threatened them that if they don’t stop believing in God, they would arrest them again and let the dog bite them to death. The two Christians however, told the security police “It doesn’t matter what you will do to us, we will never stop believing in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

THE MONTAGNARD FOUNDATION STATES:

Degar Christians have been persecuted because of their faith in Jesus Christ since 1975 and on their behalf we ask that Christians around the globe join us in prayer. We pray that Almighty God will touch the hearts of governments around the world to stop aiding Vietnam until they stop persecuting our Christian brothers and sisters. We also pray that Almighty God will touch the hearts of Vietnamese officials and that they will end religious persecution and release the (estimated 200 plus) Degar religious prisoners currently held in Vietnamese prisons.
